Dear Friend,

Have you ever had a tumor, or known someone who has?

Imagine having tumors form on the nerves of your body, at any time, throughout your life, possibly causing disfigurement, deafness, blindness, seizures, bone deformity, and even cancer.

That is neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disorder that can affect any family. Half the children born with NF have no family history of neurofibromatosis. Nine-year-old Paul in this picture has NF, as do 100,000 other people in the USA. There is still no cure.

BUT THERE IS HOPE. NF, Inc. is a national non-profit charity whose mission is to support those directly affected by NF, their families, and the professionals who work with them. We need caring people like you to join in our efforts.

So, how can you help? On May 8, 2008, the second annual National Doodle Day auction begins on eBay. All proceeds benefit NF, Inc. You can be a part of this fun event. Just “doodle” on the enclosed card, autograph it, and mail it back to us by April 1st. A prepaid envelope is included.

Need inspiration? See enclosed samples of last year’s Doodles or visit www.doodledayusa.org. The Doodles range from abstract color paintings to simple smileys. Try your hand. Plain or fancy, serious or silly, enjoy!

Your Doodle will

• raise funds for programs, events and educational materials for NF families, and for critical NF research, which is even now advancing our understanding of cancer;
• promote awareness of NF;
• assure those affected by NF that many angels in their midst are sending good wishes with every stroke of their doodling tools;
• grant you good karma and the satisfaction that comes from knowing your act of kindness helped to change thousands of lives.
